Hello there! Welcome to fishing 101. You’re entering a tradition that dates back centuries ago. About 40,000 years ago as a matter of fact. To a time when our ancestors first started casting bamboo poles, with lines made from silk and hooks made from needles all in an effort to catch fish to feed themselves. Today, that tradition is stronger than ever, although more recreational rather than for survival. None the less, millions of anglers are are going to ponds, rivers, reservoirs, lakes and even out to sea each year all with one goal, to catch that elusive trophy fish.
On this section of the site, I will cover the essential information you need to know to get started. The focus here is on the fundamentals that form a solid foundation for success. When you're a novice angler and you’re looking for a place to start, the fishing world can seem a bit overwhelming. At times, it can almost appear as if everyone is conspiring to make the subject as convoluted as possible. It can also start to feel like you need to be a Limnologist to interpret and understand some of the diagrams of lakes that are often thrown around in the fishing community.
But fret not. In fact, today it's easier than ever to get into fishing and make your first catch. In decades past, it might've taken years to become skilled. But now we live in the information age. With enough dedication, commitment, and consistent practice, you can realistically go from novice to proficient angler in a few months (as long as you’re committed).
There is a lot to learn in the angling world. From reels to flipping, skipping and pitching and no I’m not talking about baseball LOL. But it doesn't have to be overly complicated. That's where I come in. I have boiled it down to just the stuff you need to know when you're starting out. You'll have time to learn all the other advanced stuff later. For now, let's keep it simple.
